Watchability Report for the first week of the CBB season

In hindsight, I still think the best night of the first week of the season was Friday, 11-12, highlighted by an entertaining back-and-forth game between #4 Villanova and #2 UCLA, which UCLA won 86-77 in OT. However, Saturday offered a higher percentage of close games and a smaller average margin of victory. Here are the numbers to ponder:

Tuesday, 11-9-21. Average margin of victory: 22.7 points per game. Number of games decided by single digits: 44 (23.9% of all games played). Number of Overtime games: 5.

Wednesday, 11-10-21. Average margin of victory: 25.9 points per game. Number of games decided by single digits: 7 (25% of all games played). Number of Overtime games: 2.

Thursday, 11-11-21. Average margin of victory: 23.7 points per game. Number of games decided by single digits: 7 (29.2% of all games played). Number of Overtime games: 0.

Friday, 11-12-21. Average margin of victory: 21.4 points per game. Number of games decided by single digits: 29 (29.6% of all games played). Number of Overtime games: 6 (with two 2OT games).

Saturday, 11-13-21. Average margin of victory: 17.4 points per game. Number of games decided by single digits: 30 (39.5% of all games played). Number of Overtime games: 4.

As we moved further away from teams wanting to start with nearly-guaranteed wins and into holiday tournament time, we undoubtedly see even more entertaining games. Again, this isn't a news flash for anyone who's a big CBB fan.
