CBB Games to Watch 12-11-19
Headliner Game
#5 Michigan at Illinois (-1 ½) (Big Ten) at 9 p.m. (BTN)
The schedule is again pretty light with final exams still going on at most schools. This game is the best of the bunch (on paper). I was surprised to see the Illini as the favorite in this one. They need this win pretty bad as they let a big win at Maryland slip away on Saturday, and their best win so far is against Hawaii. Michigan bounced back with a nice win over Iowa after dropping their first game (and first true road game) to Louisville last week. Both teams have balanced scoring typically; who will step up for a big game: Kofi Cockburn, Ayo Dosunmu, or Trent Frazier for Illinois, OR Franz Wagner, Jon Teske, or Zavier Simpson for Michigan. It should be a close one. I think the Wolverines pull it out, but the “upset” by Illinois would not be a shock.
Upset Watch Games
Winthrop at TCU (-12) at 8 p.m. (FSN)
UT-Arlington at Houston (-13 ½) at 8 p.m. (ESPN3)
These two games are my best bets for an upset, but not feeling to confident that either will happen. UT-Arlington has been a disappointment so far, but Houston has too, so it is possible. Winthrop has already won at St. Mary’s; I suspect Jamie Dixon will remind his players of that fact. I think we might get a scare in one of the two though.
Other games to Watch
Yale (-4 ½) at UMass at 7 p.m. (ESPN+) $$
Wisconsin at Rutgers (Big Ten) (-1) at 7 p.m. (BTN)
Nebraska Omaha at #15 Arizona (-20) at 8 p.m. (Pac-12N)
Arkansas St. at Missouri St. (-9 ½) at 8 p.m. (ESPN+) $$
Boise St. at Tulsa (-2 ½) at 8 p.m. (ESPN3)
Chattanooga at Va. Tech (-12) at 8:30 p.m. (ACCN)
These games could be good. Enjoy!
